Borough of New Cumberland Police Department

On September 28, 2021, Teamsters Local 776 filed a petition for representation with the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board on behalf of the Police Officers of the Borough of New Cumberland. The Borough Officers approached the Local Union wishing to disband their association and gain representation by Local 776. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all eligible voters received an official ballot by U.S. Mail on Thursday, January 20, 2022.  Ballots were due back to the office of the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board located in Harrisburg, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. At the ballot count, held on February 17, 2022, the Officers voted in favor of representation by Teamsters Local 776 by approximately 70%.  Once negotiations with the Borough reached an impasse, the contract progressed to interest arbitration. The officers are currently awaiting their interest arbitration award.

    New Penn Office Clerks

During the 2018-2019 National Contract Negotiations between the Teamsters Union and YRC the Union negotiated a card-check agreement into the new contract to address non-union YRC employees.  For the 2019-2024 YRC National Master Freight Agreement the language allows for card check for any units that wish to join the Union.  In early 2022 Yellow freight started a Change of Operation and branded all four major companies calling it:  Super Regional Network.  In late April 2022, the Local Union met with the Clerks at the New Penn Motor Express Terminal in Camp Hill who then signed authorization cards.  On May 19, 2022, Teamsters Local 776 notified Yellow Freight of the Unions majority status of the clerks at the New Penn Camp Hill location.  On June 1, 2022, an independent party verified the signed authorization cards where 80% of the eligible employees signed an authorization card. The Local Union now represents all of the Office Clerks at New Penn.

Currently, there are several organizing campaigns in progress where employer groups came to the Local Union requesting Union representation. As these campaigns progress further updates will be available.
