  • On behalf of the Officers, Business Agents, staff, and myself, I wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day. If you're traveling, be careful. AAA projects 45.1 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Memorial Day holiday period.

As you spend the day with family and friends at a picnic, the beach, a backyard cookout, or just relaxing at home, please take a moment to remember the service men and women who gave their lives protecting the freedoms, rights, and liberty that we all enjoy in our great country. Also, please keep a place in your heart for our service men and women who proudly serve to preserve the rights and liberties that others sacrificed for.

    In Solidarity,

    Ed Thompson,

    President, Teamsters Local 776

…And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me…

    Lee Greenwood

The last day to register for the Local 776 Family Picnic is Friday, May 23rd. If you’ve already registered, great! We look forward to seeing you there. If you haven't yet registered, don't delay, do it today! Full details are below.

We realize plans change, and emergencies arise. If you have registered for the picnic and cannot make it for some unforeseen reason, please call the Union Hall during normal business hours and have your name removed from the list. An accurate head count is necessary so that the Local doesn’t pay for food for people who cannot make it to the picnic. Thanks for your cooperation.

Don’t be alarmed - the Union Hall isn’t on fire, and all is well at both Union Halls - but the headline certainly got your attention!

The May 2025 Membership Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Camp Hill Union Hall. Come to learn about your Local Union, come for the fellowship and camaraderie with your Union Brothers and Sisters, and come for Lunch! After the meeting, Lunch is on Local 776!

Up in Smoke BBQ will be on hand, providing your choice of pulled pork or beef brisket sandwiches. In addition to the sandwiches, mouth-watering side dishes will fill your belly! It’s a meal to stick to your ribs! (Pun intended!). See you on Sunday!

The Local 776 Retirees club has been up and running for a few months now, and our attendance at the monthly meeting continues to grow! If you’re a Local 776 or Local 430 retiree, come to the next meeting on Wednesday, May 14th, and visit with other Teamster Retirees!

This month, we have a guest speaker from Harro Associates who will answer questions on retirement, healthcare, investments, and related topics. If any of those questions have ever crossed your mind, then look no further! Harro Associates is ready to help you with whatever obstacles come your way.

Harro Associates was started by Cliff Harro, who was a former Teamster. Cliff has been in the Financial Industry for 36 years and began working with his first Teamster in 1994. Additional information about Harro Associates can be found below:

It’s that time of the year again, the days are getting longer and warmer, and the end of the school year is fast approaching. Many of you have been calling about it; it’s the Local 776 Family Picnic!

Again this year, Local 776 will host the Family Picnic at Knoebels Amusement Park. What has become the largest gathering of Local 776 Members of the year keeps growing! Full details on what promises to be another fun-filled day are below.

Talk it over with your family and friends at work, find out who’s going, and get signed up. We need an accurate head count so Knoebels can have plenty of food ready, so don’t delay, sign up today!

    It's all about the kids!

The annual meeting of the PA Conference of Teamsters was held on April 28, 29, and 30 in Hershey, PA. The PA Conference of Teamsters comprises Local Unions affiliated with Joint Council 40 and Joint Council 53; collectively, over 95,000 Teamsters are strong.

With Hershey, PA, being in Local 776’s jurisdiction, our local hosted the meetings. The session began with a heartfelt welcome and opening remarks to the delegates from Local 776 Business Agent Spencer Dearth.

On the first day of the meetings, IBT General President Sean O’Brien was the keynote speaker. Several Union and government officials addressed the attendees on the importance of staying the course and actively fighting all forms of anti-union legislation.

Numerous dignitaries, both elected and appointed, attended the reception held in the evening. Those in attendance included members of Congress, legislators, senators, state cabinet members, judges, and the heads of various state and federal agencies.

Local 776 Business Agent Spencer Dearth welcomed all of our Teamster Brothers and Sisters from Pennsylvania and neighboring states, offering the resources of Local 776 if needed while the delegates were in town.

IBT General President Sean O'Brien stresses a point to the Delegates on the first day of the meetings.

John "Butch" Beck retired from Springettsbury Township after working 31 years. Butch worked as a mechanic, keeping all of the Township's vehicles, road equipment, and whatever else needed fixing running smoothly. Butch and his wife were blessed with three daughters before her untimely passing in 2019. In addition to his daughters, Butch has seven grandchildren that will be vying for more of his time now that he's retired. With retirement, Butch plans to devote more time to working on and restoring older cars and trucks. At one time, he had five Ford Broncos that he was restoring. While settling into retirement, Butch is making plans for what to do next. One item he's considering is taking a cruise.

Reflecting, Butch added: "I appreciate the Union and the guys I worked with over the years. The Teamsters are a good bunch of guys!"

Local 776 BA Bill Olmeda Prsents Butch with a Local 776 Retirement Watch

Victor Conway Retired from UPS after 38 years working at the Harrisburg Hub. Vic has three grown children, two boys and a girl, and three grandchildren. Vic can devote more time to his auto detailing business now that he's retired. Additionally, he likes to travel, and being retired, he can visit his homes in Florida and Las Vegas whenever he wants, not just when he is on vacation from UPS! Vic commented, "The guys I worked with at UPS daily were great. I miss them already! And the Teamsters are great and do a good job when you need them.

Local 776 BA Jason Kraft congratulates Vic on his retirement

Ron Miller retired from UPS on March 7, where he spent 20 years working as an automotive mechanic. Before starting at UPS, Ron served in the Marines for six years. While at UPS, he spent 15 years in the National Guard. Ron and his wife Anne have a 15-year-old son who keeps them both busy; now, with retirement, Ron can help out more with the daily activities of a teenage son! Ron's hobbies include fishing for Bass in the rivers and lakes in the area and hunting for deer, grouse, and pheasants. While getting used to retirement, he and Anne are still planning what to do and getting caught up with things around the house. Looking back, Ron reflected, "Thanks for all the good times I had, and I'm looking forward to enjoying my retirement!"

Ron accepts his Retirement Watch and congratulations from Local 776 BA Dave Licht

From everyone at Teamsters Local 776, enjoy your retirement, gentlemen; you have earned it!
