  • UPS Teamsters Rally in Harrisburg
    Posted On: Jul 20, 2023

On Wednesday, July 19th a press conference and rally were held in support of UPS Teamsters to help pressure UPS to get back to the table and negotiate the contract that our members deserve. The opening remarks were made by LaRue Hess USW Local 1688 and Teamsters Local 776 Business Agent and member of the UPS Teamsters National Negotiating Committee David Licht. Following the opening remarks, all the State Representatives in attendance spoke and offered their full support to UPS Teamsters. In addition to the State Representatives two Dauphin County Commissioners, the Mayor of Harrisburg, and one member of the Harrisburg City Council attended to show their support for UPS Teamsters. Building relationships with members of local and state government has been a long-standing practice of Local 776 so we can better represent our members.

IBT General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman attended and made the closing remarks before heading to UPS. “UPS sees how united and strike-ready our members are, and the company is getting scared,” Zuckerman said. “They should be scared. And they should be ready to give us an acceptable offer when we return to negotiations in Washington D.C. next week. If they don’t, this won’t be practice anymore.” Zuckerman joined rank-and-file UPS Teamsters practice picketing, walked the line with Local 776 members in Harrisburg, and spoke with rank-and-filers about the status of negotiations.

The local 776 Tractor trailer lead the way, with the Tractor-Trailer from Teamsters Local 107 following behind the March.

We want to thank all the elected officials and labor Unions for their support and participation and USW Local 1688 for hosting the event.
