Steve Ferry retired from Amsted Rail on June 27th after a 42-year career. Steve was a long-haul truck driver before settling in at Amsted Rail, and 42 years later, he’s retired! Steve worked as a forklift driver and in assembly for a while, but the majority of his time was spent running CNC lathe machining centers. As technology advanced, he worked with robots on the shop floor.
Steve and his wife Brenda have been married for 36 years and have a son living in Pittsburgh. Now that he has some free time, Steve hopes to spend more time fishing, chasing Smallmouth Bass in the Susquehanna River, and devote more time to digital photography. He and Brenda plan on traveling the United States with trips planned to Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons, along with trips to Vermont and New Hampshire, where they’ll visit Mount Washington.
Looking back, Steve reflected: It was nice being a Teamster. Ron Hicks was a good Business Agent. I enjoyed the friendships I made with my co-workers over the years and my time at Amsted.
Congratulations, Steve, enjoy your retirement, best of luck in your travels visiting our great country!

Secretary-Treasurer Ron Hicks is still busy handing out hardware; here he congratulates Member Steve Ferry and presents him with his retirement watch!
