  • Labor Council Corn Roast
    Posted On: Oct 29, 2018

In spite of all the industrial growth in York County there is still a large agricultural base in the County. Driving through the area this is evident in the fields of corn reaching toward the sky.  In late summer this display of corn leads to an annual event: The York-Adams County Central Labor Council’s Corn Roast.

This year labor leaders, rank and file members, and friends of labor gathered to share in good food, fellowship, and corn! It’s a time to meet with others who share many of the same concerns facing organized labor.

Again this year Local 776 was on hand with our hospitality truck and grill. Local 776 Trustee Rob Smiley handled the cooking chores assisted by his wife Janet and son Caleb. Also on hand from Local 776 were Business Agents Tim Turek and Dave Wolf, 776 Vice-President Dave Pogue, and Retiree Kittie Hake.

Along with the usual picnic fare from the grill there was a large assortment of other foods and desserts to satisfy everyone’s appetite. Oh, and plenty of York County corn!

A good crowd was on hand from various Unions across the County

Local 776 Grill Master Rob Smiley kept the food coming...

...And there was plenty of York County Corn for everyone!
