As the Holiday Season winds down the Local Union received a letter from one of the groups we donated Christmas Toys to:

Thanks to everyone who helped make our Holiday "Season of Sharing" a success!

As you’ve seen it was a busy Christmas Season around the Union Hall. Our members from the Littlestown Borough Police Dept. also got involved in the Spirit of Christmas giving. On Saturday December 21st the department invited the public to “Stuff the Squad” People brought toys to the police station where they were placed in a police vehicle. The collected toys were then donated to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

From Left: Officer Anthony Gilberto, Officer Gary Gearhart, Detective James Spielman, Toys for Tots assistant coordinator Chris Bunty, Officer and event coordinator Anthony Lupian.

Shortly after noon the vehicle was almost full!

    People Helping People; It’s Contagious!

On December 14, 2019 Local 776 sponsored a Christmas for Kids party for children in York County’s WIC (women, infants, and children) program. This annual event is a community services project the Local undertakes in the York area. Each child received a gift and a chance to meet with Santa, along with a bag of treats to take home. After meeting with Santa there were snacks and refreshments available for the kids and their families. Party committee chairman Rob Smiley, a Local 776 Trustee, and 776 TITAN operator Mandy Myers worked together through the year to make sure that over 100 children from some of the areas most needy families had a brighter Christmas. This year members of the Teamster Horsemen Chapter 53W played an active role in making sure the party was a success.

Local 776 President Ed Thompson commented, “Helping these kids have a brighter holiday is one way we give back to the community where our members live and work. I would like to thank the members of the committee and the Teamster Horsemen who put a lot of time and effort into making this event happen. I would also like to thank Bimbo Bakery (Stroehmann/ Maier’s), and Canteen Foods Corp. for their participation this year in helping these kids have brighter holiday.”

Cookies, Goodie Bags, and Gifts! Starting to look like Christmas in the Union Hall!

Local 776 Board Members, Businss Agents, Staff, and the Teamster Horsemen all play a part in making this event a success!

    All smiles for Santa!

It's what the Holiday is all about!

    Happy Faces!

It has been another busy Holiday Season at local 776; filled with caring, sharing, taking care of our own, taking care of others, making sure no one goes without this time of the year.

We would like to thank all of the individuals who work throughout the year to make these events happen, to our members who support the Local Union, and to their families who support their loved ones while they are donating their time and energy to their Union.

    Merry Christmas to All!!

Santa’s workshop was full of gifts during the Local’s Christmas party and none of our “Teamster” kids left empty handed! When the party was over we had toys left over so it was decided to help more kids have a brighter holiday. This year the members in attendance at the December Monthly Meeting had suggestions on where the toys should go. So the truck was loaded up, some Business Agents and our Organizer rounded up, and on the road we went!

LocaL 776 BA Dave Wolf delivered gifts to the YMCA's Access York shelter

Local 776 BA Dave Vrona made a stop at the Hershey Medical Center Children's Hospital.

Local 776 BA Eddie Sutton (L) and Organizer Mark Cicak (R) made sure the Shriners Hospital would have toys for their kids!

The Marines were happy to accept toys from Local 776 Organizer Mark Cicak for their Toys for Tots program!

Local 776 BA Dave Wolf was busy! he also made a stop at the York County K9 Assoc. to help out with their Christmas for Kids project

It has been a busy couple of weeks at Local 776 but we're not done yet! Check back!

This Holiday Season the Local Union was again contacted by Dauphin County Human Services for assistance moving a large quantity of donations from their warehouse to the Farm Show Complex for the 11th Annual Holiday Celebration for Needy Families, Children, and Youth Event. Peoples schedules were adjusted and on December 16, 2019 Local 776 sent our truck and five helpers to get the job done.

The Truck says it all: "People Helping People"

A large load to move needs a large truck to move it!

On hand to help out Dauphin County Employees from Local 776: BA's Spencer Dearth and Dave Vrona (Center) and Dave Wolf and George Goodling (2nd and 3rd from right). Not in the photo but there helping out and working the camera was Local 776 Organizer Mark Cicak.

At the conclusion of the December Monthly Membership Meeting the members in attendance were treated to a Christmas dinner. Ham, Turkey, and all the extras to go with it were offered. For dessert there were the Smiley Family's famous cookies that were also served at the Children's Christmas Party!

“The monthly membership meetings are an important tool for getting information to the members. But they are also important for building brotherhood among the members from the various employer groups we represent. I’m glad to see the members relaxing, enjoying the food, and enjoying each others company” commented President Ed Thompson.

There was plenty to go round for all who brought their appetite!

The start of a good looking plate!

    Smiling Faces!

The Union Hall was filled with members enjoying the food, the fellowship,

and the company of other Teamsters!

    Merry Christmas to all!

On Saturday December 7, 2019 the Union Hall became Santa’s Christmas Land as Local 776 held its Christmas Party for members and retirees children and grandchildren. After a stop at Santa’s workshop for a gift next up was a visit with the Big Man himself! Followed by food, drinks, assorted sweet treats and a trip to the face painter! “These kids are our future. With our diverse membership it’s conceivable that when these kids join the workforce many of them will become Teamsters and they will remember the time they shared at the Union Hall” commented Local 776 President Ed Thompson. “With hurried daily life it’s important to be able to have quality time with our families and friends. I would like to thank the Officers, Agents, and Staff for all the time and effort put forth to insure the party was a success!”

The Union Hall was packed with members and their families!

All smiles from this Member and his family!

Christmas outfits were the order of the day!

Thanks to the Smileys who baked 300 dozen cookies to make sure everybody's sweet tooth was satisfied!

Did you know that the U.S. Postal Service is the most popular federal agency? USPS provides critical services to the American public, but now it’s at risk. If we don’t all act soon, USPS could be privatized. Last year, the White House announced proposals to privatize the Postal Service. Postmaster General Megan Brennan is leaving the agency in January, and it’s likely that the White House’s next pick will have privatization high up on the agenda. We can’t let that happen—it's time to mobilize support to protect the U.S. Postal Service. Follow the link below to take action:

Click here to tell the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors: U.S. mail is not for sale!

Now, more than ever, the U.S. Postal Service is at risk of privatization. The people expect—and deserve—a postmaster general who will uphold the USPS’s critical importance as a public service.
