Along with the Rick Smith Show Local 776 is helping bring to Central PA the movie “American Factory”. In post-industrial Ohio a Chinese billionaire re-opens a factory in the husk of an abandoned General Motors plant and hires two thousand blue-collar Americans. Early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America. Cultures collide. Hope survives; the film tells a powerful, personal story about how the loss of industrial jobs and incoming globalization affect workers. Full details can be found below:

The Circus is coming to town! And Local 776 has tickets for you! The Local Union has purchased 100 adult tickets and 100 children's tickets. The tickets can be picked up at either the Harrisburg or York Union Hall during normal business hours. Full details are below:

For years, the U.S. Postal Service has been burdened by an unprecedented and unfair congressional mandate to prefund health benefits for future retirees 75 years in advance. This month, the House of Representatives passed the USPS Fairness Act (H.R. 2382) by an overwhelming margin, and now it’s the Senate’s turn to act.

Today, working people are calling our senators to help pass the USPS Fairness Act (S. 2965). Join us in making a call. Dial (833) 924-0085 and ask your senators to co-sponsor legislation that would eliminate the unfair prefunding mandate and protect the Postal Service.

Recently Local 776 Members at Amsted Rail ratified a new four year agreement. At the conclusion of negotiations 82% of the eligible members voted on the tentative agreement, with 75% of those voting in favor of the pact.

Highlights of the new agreement include: steady wage increases each year of the agreement, no increases in health care costs for the first year; with a cap for any future increases, 20% increase in the company's 401k matching contribution, an increase in bereavement days off for immediate family members, significant improvements on vacation for new hires after one year, and an increase in the weekly accident and sickness pay benefit. In addition there was a signing bonus and an early wage increase for the three months prior to the agreement going into effect. The new agreement runs from April 26, 2020 thru April 27, 2024.

Local 776 Business Agent Ron Hicks would like to thank the negotiating committee for their dedication and hard work they displayed during the negotiations and to congratulate them for bringing a highly acceptable offer to the membership for a vote. Additionally Ron would like to thank the members who supported the committee and realized the committee negotiated the best agreement possible by showing their overwhelming support by voting on the tentative agreement.

Local 776, in conjunction with the IBT, is hosting a presentation pertaining to the history of the Teamsters Union. The best way to celebrate Teamster History is to learn about the actions and events of those who came before us, who stood together to form a Union and a Labor Movement that improved working and living standards for American families and communities. These workers fought for the rights and privileges that today most Americans take for granted.

Join us on March 7, 2020 for this informative and enlightening look at our Union. There will be a lunch intermission with food provided by Get Smok’d BBQ. Seats are filling fast, details can be found below to reserve yours!

    See you on March 7th!
