  • IBT Appointment
    Updated On: Feb 18, 2019

Recently Local 776 UPS Business Agent Dave Licht was appointed by the IBT to the Teamsters/UPS National Grievance Committee. The NGC meets three times a year to render decisions on disputes pertaining to the National Master portion of the Teamsters/UPS agreement. Decisions reached by the committee affect all Teamster members working under the National Agreement.

Along with his position on the NGC Dave was also appointed to the Article 43 Premium Services Committee. This committee consists of four Teamster representatives and four UPS representatives. The committee meets at least four times per year to address issues pertaining to Article 43 of the Master Agreement. Article 43 deals with the introductions of new services by UPS where the ground movement of packages cannot be handled by the existing feeder network necessitating ground movement by a premium services driver (mileage layover) or by sleeper teams. In addition the committee also hears and renders decisions on subcontracting issues that could not be resolved at a lower level grievance committee.

As the Local’s UPS BA with over 300 Feeder Drivers located at the Harrisburg Hub Dave has a  vast amount of knowledge and experience that he brings to the Article 43 committee. Additionally Dave will be involved with the workings of the NGC on other issues that will have an impact on Local 776 UPS members. Dave is looking forward to working with Teamster Leaders from across the country as he moves into these added responsibilities.

Congratulations on your appointments Dave, It is because of your dedication and hard work that the Local is now represented on these two important committees.
