On Sunday March 8, 2015 Local 776 President Ed Thompson made a special presentation. Maura Vrabel, daughter of Local 776 member Richard Vrabel, was presented with a JR Hoffa Memorial Scholarship. Maura, a freshman at Notre Dame University who is majoring in chemical engineering, thanked the Teamsters for selecting her as a finalist. Richard, a member of the Local Union for 16 years is a road driver at ABF Freight System.
Speaking on the award President Thompson commented: “The Local Union is proud that someone from the next generation of leaders is from a Teamsters Family and recognizes the importance of organized labor. As Maura stated in her essay, through our efforts of collective bargaining Unions don’t just set the bar for wages in our contracts but raise the bar for all workers. Congratulations to Maura for being selected a JR Hoffa Memorial Scholarship finalist.”
